Students
Tanya has many students who compete and she loves helping them achieve their competitive goals. Also the camaraderie of going to shows together, helping each other, working together, having great dinners at the end of a long day of showing is also such a great part of the whole experience.
I think I am sometimes more nervous when they compete than they
are….I feel like I ride every move with them!! - Tanya
Margaret & Weatherby:
Margaret and Weatherby: 2006 was the first show season for Margaret’s young horse Weatherby. We jumped right in and headed to Rancho Murrieta in April. Despite the rainy weather Margaret won a class with a 68%!! The next show was at Riverside and he was a very good boy, scoring in the mid 60’s. Best of all he was a very good boy and settled nicely into the showing environment.
Susan and Knight Flight (Nino): Susan started her show career with a win at Training level on her lovely Friesian gelding. She was then pulled aside for a photo session for the upcoming CDS chapter magazine!! Her very next show at 1st Level she managed to win one of her tests with a 68%! In the meanwhile, so Nino could gain more show experience and mileage, we took him to Del Mar and Pebble Beach where Tanya and her assistant competed Nino for Susan at 2nd Level with scores in the mid 60%’s including winning some open division classes. It was great for him to gain some experience at the big shows and next year’s show season looks to be very promising…
Karen and Matisse: Through several show seasons Karen has been working her way up the levels. In 2005 she earned her bronze medal after many 3rd Level scores above 60%. In 2006 she moved up to 4th Level and all her scores have been above 60%!! Karen in an incredibly dedicated rider and horseman and it is so exciting to see her move up the levels and progress so well.
Ginny and Lorenz (Lil Bug): Ginny’s 2nd level season is off to a great start with a first and second place at her first time out at 2nd level! Ginny and Lil Bug’s first show season together was also a great success. We went to many shows and she qualified for and went to Annual Show at 1st Level on her wonderful Dutch gelding! What a great way to start things off with a new horse. Although having only ridden dressage for the last few years, Ginny gets right in there. Prior to showing Lil Bug, she competed Bramble at 1st level. She has even dabbled in showing 3rd level on her older schoolmaster! As well as competing at shows, Ginny also grooms for Tanya.
Anne and Bramble: Anne, with only about a year in the saddle, started showing with her Swedish gelding Luna. She started off at Pebble Beach, with some great scores in the high 60%’s!! Later she moved on the Bramble, putting in 2 seasons at 1st Level. Not bad for just having taken up riding! Anne has also quickly become a veteran horse show person. Reading tests, helping groom, working at shows, and managing shows are all things that she has done in such a short time.
Valerie Joe & Monte: Valerie started competing with her horse Joe. He was a lovely little Arabian gelding, who we bought just started. Unfortunately, due to some soundness issues, we found him a new home and Monte is now Valerie’s partner. He is an adorable paint horse and Valerie has been enjoying showing him at training level.
Rebecca and Bramble: Rebecca has returned to showing after a 50 year break! Bramble and Rebecca made their debut at training level. They completed 2 smooth, flowing test and had a great time. Go Rebecca!! |
